It’s the old cliché come to life. Everything slows like time is freezing in front of me. I can’t throw faster than Prudence can squeeze her finger. I just killed Stephanie. This is my fault in every imaginable way. I should have stopped her, I tell myself. From day one, I knew I should have stopped her. But I didn’t. I let emotion cloud my judgement. And now…now she’s going to pay for my weakness with her life. Prudence is a killer and the second I saw her, I should have taken her down. But I didn’t. I thought after what we went through with the Council of Spiders that maybe she had changed.
